Public forum “A woman or a machine – Women exploitation in BiH” was held in Mostar City Hall on February 15th, as a part of campaign “One billion rising”. Željka Rubinić (STBIH representative) was one of the four speakers. Women rights in general, position of women in trade sector, challenges that women have, lack of legislative and violation of workers’ rights were some of the topics that were discussed on the forum.
Coordinators of activity in Mostar were Youth Council of City of Mostar, Psychologists’ Branch of Herzegovina, Association “Woman BiH” and ELSA Mostar.
One Billion Rising is the biggest mass action to end violence against women in human history. The campaign, launched on Valentine’s Day 2012, began as a call to action based on the staggering statistic that 1 in 3 women on the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime.
