Poverty, Gender and Development strategy

Poverty is global problem and more then 70 countries in the world deal with it preparing The Strategy for its reduction. Bosnia and Herzegovina has the lowest GDP in the entire region of Southeastern Europe. 19,6% of total population in BIH leaves below the general poverty line.
Lack of statistics and general very bad economic situation has made a problem of poverty in BIH one of the present priorities. Therefore, FIET/UNI project for BIH has chosen poverty for the topic of its women’s seminar. This global problem has been in focus of two days discussion. More then 30 participant’s employees in commerce and finance in BIH had opportunity to learn more about the characteristics of poverty and how it affects the population and its specific parts such as women.
Seminar guests, Magnus Gissler and Asa Berner have made an important and very well received contribution to the seminar. Magnus Gissler in his presentation has shown the present situation in Sweden, which is one of the countries that work on Strategy for reduction of poverty.
As usually part of seminar has been focus on psychological and social aspect of poverty, where lecture has been delivered by Jadranka Mikic.
All participants of the seminar have made a strong personal engagement trough number of workshops arranged during the seminar.
