If one would look on the list of international holidays and days, there wouldn’t be any day that celebrate commerce or trade or work in this sector. Bosnia and Herzegovina is country that still has no Law on holidays and this fact has been used by the employers to force workers to work every day in the year and not having any holiday as such. Commerce at the same time in general income of BH economy plays the most important role and employes great number of the working population. Therefore the role that this sector has is not recognized by authorities of BIH. The role that commerce ha sin general political stability of the country is also not appriciated well.

With the support of HK region Agder og Rogoland STBIH decided to celebrate 29 April as its Commerce Day. This first celebartion aimed on getting attraction of the media and public to very difficult position of commerce in general and its workers in particular. In front of TU Building STBIH organized performans “Market of rights” by offering citizens of Sarajevo for free number of rights that commerce workers do not have in real life. At the same time special meeting of STBIH was organized gathering all STBIH shop stewards, representatives of the authorities and social partners with the aim on diccussing the challenges of todays BH Commerce.

This event once again put STBIH in focus of so far biggest number of electronic an printing media which offered STBIH a chance to reach not only to the workers in commerce but to all workers and cumstomers as very important stake holder for BH trade.

STBIH launched the initiative for the next year’s Commerce Day to elect the best employer, the best local and best organizer but also what is the most important workers in commerce will have opportunity to anonimiouslly elect the worst commerce employer on STBIH web site and facebook.
